This has been a pretty terrific week for us. We're all more or less healthy (a good case of allergies with a zillion boxes of Kleenex) and have been making great choices overall.
We've gone out to eat nearly every night it seems. Kaese Spaetzle (not sure if I spelled that correctly), Kaiserschmarn, Weiner Art mit Preiselbeern, Kartoffelnsoupe, quesadillas ... mmmm, yummy! Of course, Nina's birthday was this week, as well. Which was cause for busting out some Kraft Mac & Cheese. So it's been a delicious week.
Nina's family party was a lot of fun. She loved the cards and gifts that were sent and provided for (thanks, family!) and is eager to wear all of her new clothes. The laundry nymph hasn't been around in a while for our clothes to magically appear in our drawers all clean and folded.
She also had a Geburtstagfest at school, complete with cupcakes (in green gingham liners!) topped with pink icing, sprinkles and giant strawberries.
I chose to keep the kids home from school on Friday. We just needed a day to play and enjoy the sunshine and be together. Among a variety of other things, we did some schoolwork in the morning and had a picnic in the yard. Edison got to crawl around and explore the backyard for the first time, which completely exhausted him. So many pinecones and pieces of debris to lick and try to eat when Mama wasn't looking!
Rather than having a bunch of kids over for a birthday party, we decided to surprise her with a trip back to the slopes with the friends that took the ski course with her a few weeks ago. Our families have gotten on really well together, and Nina was delighted to be able to spend the day with two of her closest friends from school. And the brownies after lunch didn't hurt matters.
Grace was getting bored with the beginners' slope, so Martina took her down the mountain several times. She did really great! She seems to have a knack for skiing.
Now we're home, exhausted, and (would you believe) sunburned. We were all stripping down to as little clothing as possible -- it must've gotten near 70 degrees up there, which felt like a toasty 90 degrees after such a cold winter.
